The Corpse Party manga shows a middle school Seiko fearing that everyone will leave her behind, including her father, and Yuu after her mother disappears. She participates in a lot of skin ship with them, as she does with Naomi, (possibly hinting that Seiko still suffers from some form of separation anxiety. Her family is very important to her, and she worries about her siblings a lot as all three of them are in elementary school. (Seiko wondering on the status of her siblings while in Heavenly Host) “I wonder if Yuu and the others are getting hungry about now…” She often compliments the shape of Naomi’s bust and bottom, saying she has child-bearing hips. Most of her jokes tend to be perverted, and with a lot of associated skin-ship with Naomi. (Seiko and Naomi at the Heavenly Host Highland Amusement Park) Seiko: “Whoa… This is… Naomi, your bust’s grown by 3 cm since yesterday!” (In a sense, it could be said that she acts overly positive to get away from the negative things that keep her down.) Even though visibly frightened by what she sees in Heavenly Host, she swiftly tries to cover it up by acting as ridiculous as she always does. However, Seiko’s cheery nature is partially a facade. (Seiko lightening the mood over Mayu’s school transfer, as Naomi plays the straight man.) Naomi: “That means you’re supposed to be dead, you know?” Seiko: “gently, kindly, from beneath the sod…” Seiko: “*Exaggerated sob* Take care of yourself, okay? *More exaggerated sobbing* I’ll always be watching over you…” However, most of her attempts of setting the mood often focus on making the situation surreal, or by being ridiculous as can be seen below. Optimistic, merry making, and goofy Seiko is the mood maker of the group. Oh, and we’re going to get our bicycles fixed in the afternoon. No way the two of us are gonna die! I’ve got a trim booked at the beauty salon first thing in the morning tomorrow. This is true for Japanese children as well, where incidences of hemorrhoids have been increasing over the years.) The high incidence of hemorrhoids among the Japanese is put down to a high stress work environment, and long work/school hours. To combat this, commercials for hemorrhoids and hemorrhoid related products are quite regular on Japanese TV. Due to many not seeking treatment out of shame or embarrassment, they often go untreated, resulting in a escalation of their condition until surgery may be required. (Japan Fact! : Hemorrhoids is actually quite common in Japanese culture, with 1 in 3 individuals suffering from some form of it. This may be due to the high amount of stress she suffers from taking care of her younger siblings, while also attending school. Seiko suffers from hemorrhoids quite often. (The infamous “Butter up my pooper” segment properly translated.) Seiko: “Tha~nk you~! Alright then, I’ll just go coat myself up!” Naomi: “If it’s the usual salves, then I’ve got some. Seiko: “Ye~ah, my bottom’s not been doing too well recently.” Seiko: “Do you have any bum medicine? The topical stuff.” Her bright, carefree personality has made her many friends at Kisaragi Academy. She lives near Nakashima, Naomi, and the two often go to school with each other. Naomi states that she disappeared several years ago, and the Corpse Party Blood Covered manga shows a distraught middle school Seiko searching for her mother. The exact date of her Shinohara, Sayaka’s, her mother’s, disappearance is unknown. (Naomi berating herself over her words to Seiko.) “(I’m an idiot! Even though I knew Seiko’s mother disappeared several years ago…)” Her father often comes home near midnight due to work, leaving her in charge of everything. Having lost her mother a few years ago, Seiko is responsible for most of the house chores, and taking care of her 3 younger siblings at home. (Yamazaki to Yui on the effect she has had on her students)Īlthough she is bright and perky at school now, Seiko wasn’t always as cheerful as she is now. “Even Shinohara, who’s been a little gloomy due to her situation at home, has become brighter after meeting you and Nakashima-san.”
